Canadians, where do you buy your smartphones?

Some people purchase their smartphones at major carriers like Bell, Telus and Rogers, while others get their devices at retailers like Best Buy, Canada Computers and Walmart.

You can get smartphones online via Amazon’s website, eBay or even the websites of specific manufacturers — like OnePlus and Google.

While at one point it was common for most people to purchase smartphones from carriers, it seems an increasing number of people are purchasing their smartphones outright and are avoiding going into carrier stores.

Recently I ran into an older gentleman who had the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Knowing that the phone is difficult to get in Canada — the device is only available at Canada Computers —  I asked him how he got the phone. He responded by saying he did some research online and, after deciding the Mate 10 Pro is the best phone for its price, purchased the phone from Amazon.

So that made me think, where do you buy your smartphone? Are you like the gentleman who purchases your devices at Amazon? Or do you still purchase your handsets from the carriers?
