New study estimates 12% of Canadians subscribe to Netflix

There are some 4.3 million Canadian Netflix subscribers, according to calculations done by SNL Kagan, an international research firm. This represents over 12 percent of the country’s population.

If all 4.3 million paid the company’s $10 per month subscription fee, then last year’s Canadian sales would’ve brought in around $515 million, a significant amount of revenue for the company.

The study also notes that the number of Canadian subscribers increased nearly 20 percent from SNL Kagan’s 3.6 million estimate in 2014.

Netflix itself refrains from releasing data on its Canadian subscribers, but it has stated that in 2016 international revenue increased by a whopping 50 percent in comparison to 22 percent at home in the U.S.
