Withings, which began selling its Activité and Activité Pop smartwatches in Canada earlier this year, has updated its companion software on iOS and Android to detect swimming.
The company made the announcement today in its blog, saying that the two smartwatches are the first on the market with automatic swimming detection. “Water-resistant to 50 meters, readable in bright sunlight and able to track your swim at any time, Activité and Activité Pop are ready for all your summer adventures,” it says.
Like a walk or run, Activité promises to track and store movement in its iOS or Android app after syncing with the smartwatch over Bluetooth.
The Activité Pop, which we loved back at CES, costs $179.99 CAD at Best Buy Canada, while the sapphire-covered premium Activité, which comes with a naturally-tanned brown or black leather strap and stainless steel casing, costs a much steeper $599.99.
