Xiaomi to announce paper-thin phone this week

Before the new year, there was talk that Xiaomi would make its American debut at CES 2015. Rumour was that the company would use the show to introduce us to the Mi5, it’s newest flagship phone.

That didn’t happen (obviously) but Xiaomi does have an event scheduled for later this week and the Chinese company is having plenty of fun teasing us about the event on Facebook. Xiaomi has posted a video with several common phrases presented in a ‘fill in the blank’ type challenge along with the hashtag “MiLaunch115.”

The event takes place on January 15th, so that takes care of the ‘115’ in the hashtag. The phrases included in the video are, “As __ as paper,” “The __ the better,” and “As __ as a bell.” So ‘thin,’ ‘bigger,’ and ‘clear’ (or would that be loud?).

Previous rumours have the Mi5 pegged as a a 5.7-inch QHD device with a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 20.7MP camera and a CNY1,999/$325 price tag.
