Samsung Galaxy S6 is being designed from scratch

Smartphone companies may have gotten into the habit of refreshing their flagship phones once every year, but phones like Galaxy S5 are proof that no one company can rest on its laurels when it comes to refining their phones. The S5 was criticized for not being different enough from its predecessor (our own review concluded that there was little reason to upgrade if you owned an S4) and it looks like Samsung is determined not to make the same mistake with the S6.

According to Sam Mobile, work has already started on the Galaxy S6, and the device has been christened with the codename ‘Project Zero.’ Sam Mobile cites sources that say the device is in the early states of development and that the device is being developed from scratch. This is highlighted the code naming of the phone, which shies away from Samsung’s usual MO of using a single letter (Project T, Project K, Project J, etc.).

The fact that Samsung is ready for “an entirely new vision” for its flagship phone is no surprise. The South Korean company has been experimenting with metal construction as of late with the Alpha and the Note 4 as well as the Galaxy A3 and A5 and these devices have been received quite well.

No other news about the S6 just yet but we’ll keep you posted on rumoured specs.
