Videotron is now one of the carriers to watch in Canada. They successfully purchased 700MHz spectrum across Canada to potentially claim its spot as the country’s next big wireless player.
Keeping up with competition and also leading, Videotron has reduced its roaming for customers travelling to the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. The Quebec-based carrier has reduced U.S. data from $0.40/MB to only $0.15/MB and ensures its 500,000 customers that they’ll only be charges for what they actually use. Videotron also unveiled an unlimited U.S. text plan for $10/month. As for Europe, the data roaming has been cut from $1/MB to $0.60/MB. Caribbean data roaming has been slashed by 50% to $1/MB and $0.60 per minute for calls.
In addition, Videotron has also launched a business promo with a mind-blowing amount of data (perfect for tethering with your colleagues). For $79.95 per month customers within Québec will receive unlimited local and long-distance calls, 30GB of data, Unlimited text messages, Call Display, Voicemail and the usual Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and Conference Calling.
The fine print states that “This limited-time offer is for current Videotron mobile telephone service customers or all Business customers subscribing to Videotron’s mobile telephone service. Long-distance calls, roaming and other applicable charges not included. The Unlimited Business Québec 30 GB plan includes 30 GB in Québec per month.”
