Despite shortages, LG is proud of the Nexus 4 (video)

  • vengefulspirit99

I’d like it too if I could actually buy one.

  • ActivesiN

yea I would be proud of it if mine would ship to me

  • GuiSim

I received one earlier this week and I have to say that so far I am very impressed. The phone feels great, Android 4.2 is very cool (coming from 2.3 anyway..).

16Gb feels much larger than I first expected. Google Music allows me to save a lot of wasted space on my phone and so far I have everything I need and I still have 9Gb free.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The only thing that might ruin my mood is the battery but so far I have been using it very intensively so I can’t tell if it’ll be able to easily last one or two days on normal usage.

Im in the same boat as Vengful, Launch day i was busy and it sold out really really fast, and then on the second sale day I was unable to get one. Hope this compares to the nexus 10 when it is readily available. the nexus 10 shows off the android operating system quite well.

  • Eduardo

I haven’t watched the video but I am sure they are not talking about all the cracked phones.
I am not trolling, I would have bought one right away (the second time around) had it not been for that detail; my old Nexus S endured a lot of abuse and only cracked one it slipped from my hand from a second floor.

    • Eduardo

      *when it slipped…

I wish they would fix that problem with the back, but it’s selling so well it won’t happen.

  • CJ

Why shouldn’t they be proud? The Screw-ups have been on the part of Google and their inability to run an eCommerce site.

    • cody

you have to keep in mind that they didn’t expect this gen of nexus devices to sell like they did. the the first of the 3 current devices into mind, the nexus 7. It sold out instantly as well. put a nice price on a top of the line phone. what do you think is going to happen?

  • screamer

I hope that we see more phone with the same price tag on them

  • Nathaniel James

Might consider it, if they never sold out every 5 minutes 🙁

  • 2cf

    RIP RIM!!! 😀 😀

  • Evan

I’d like it if they actually shipped mine. I got the 1-2 weeks email and it hasn’t shipped yet. I emailed Google last week and they said it should ship by today but no email yet…. I’m getting very annoyed of using a Gnex with a cracked screen, send me my N4 already Google!

  • Brad F, Brad F(anboy), jack

Instead of making this video, they should have used these resrouces to make more phones.

Still not a fan of LG though.

It’s a great phone with a ton of value, but after playing with one, I might actually give the nod to the Optimus G, even if it is stuck on ICS. There are some really cool little features on that device, and the extra storage and better camera really helps.

  • Mike

I canceled my nexus 4 and i got a s3. Who would wait 2 months to get a phone

    • EvanK

When it’s a matter of saving 300$+, I think a lot of people, including me, would.

    • gnote

look how long are people waiting to get a BB10 device.

    RIP APPLE!!!!!
    thermonuclear war commence!

  • KyoKeun

Well it is a pretty nice phone. Only LG phone that I enjoy!

  • Morgan Freeman Lookalike

My Nexus 4 is so nice that when I pick it up to make a phone call I always forget who I’m supposed to call because I’m distracted by the beauty of such a phone!!! Then I remember it’s a phone and text instead.

  • Ken

Google might be great but it sure runs a mickey mouse operation when they can’t keep up with the demand on the Nexus 4. They should have had a million or 2 million built for there 1st launch. Pretty bad when people want to buy and there’s nothing to buy. Poor merchandising.

    • Mike

Your spelling as as bad as their supply chain management.

  • Dalex

I’m glad you’re proud of it LG, too bad most of the people that wish to buy it can’t share that sentiment.

Here’s a tip for you Google, go with an OEM that can handle the process next time so that they don’t make you look bad. Samsung fits the bill just fine, so does HTC for that matter, heck even Sony is probably more capable.

  • Steven

If that car dock has a qi charger built in… I WANT IT.

That was nice about my N1’s car dock is not having to plug in directly to the phone (because of the pogo pins), but having it wireless and no need for a large cradle around the phone would be perfect.

  • OmegaJimes

Mine left Redmond Washington @ 12:37pm due for Vancouver. Should be in my hands tomorrow. I can’t wait! It should hold me over until BB10 anyway.

  • peters~

These guys, both Google and LG, need to get their act together. People are getting sick of their flawed campaign.

  • Omar

loving the nexus 4 right now. my brother and i found ours on kijiji. While he sold his s3 and bought his at a premium of 440 i waited a few weeks and found some guy who sold his LNIB for 350! my only complaint so far is the camera. it doesn’t compare to my s3 nor my old gnex!

  • GlassBackBadIdea

there is nothing to be proud of you stupid company. If it was my product, I would hide behind my desk from all the shame. Who puts a glass plate on the back of the phone. what a dumb idea!

  • GlassBackBadIdea

They got that one right at the end of the clip, “cutting edge technology” Very true, because you will cut yourself from all the broken glass on the back side of the phone.

  • Mike

I like Nexus. But can’t stand LG. I’m gonna skip this one and wait for the next one. Hopefully, it’s gonna be a HTC or Sony.

  • o

reading this article with my nexus 4 🙂

  • Mark

Just got my N4 in the mail on Tuesday and signed up with the Wind $40; it’s my first smartphone after ten years of holding off and my favourite thing about it is the solid feel of the build quality. After coming from an indestructible brick phone every droid phone I picked up at a Bell or Rogers kiosk to get a feel for felt plastic and disposable and cheap, creaky and poorly fit together when I tried to bend or torque it in my hands. Thankfully the N4 is rock solid (and dapper as hell)…as long as I don’t drop it before the bumper case comes back in stock 🙁

  • dave

GlassBackBadIdea you are smart as a stick for sure. The front screen on your phone made of wood?

  • HabsFan

By far, this is the worst customer experience I have ever had. I’m sure this is a great phone but I was tired of waiting for it WHILE I had already been charged for it. Orded one on the first day out and suposedly it shipped out 2 days later.

After over a month of waiting, I’m getting google to refund my money as this was to be an xmas gift. The phone has been stuck at ‘Label created status’ on UPS tracking and google CSRs were absolutly no help. Even getting a refund was next to impossible since they consider it ‘shipped out’.

From the product launch day to everything in between, Google Play store needs to work on their supply chain managment becuase this was beyond bush league.

I’m sure this is a great phone but it’s not worth the wait and hassle for me. Got a Samsung Galaxy S II X instead. 75$ + 100 back in gift cards and BS.

  • Brad F, Brad F(anboy), jack

Can you just imagine how many more phones they could have sold if they did not go with LG? Even Motorola would have been better with their all day battery and carbon fiber on the back.

I’ll be ordering sometime mid January, so it constantly being sold out luckily hasn’t affected me. It’s larger than I’d of liked, but the specs, price, and “apple-like” immediate updates are the reason I’m getting one over say an s3. The s3 is nice, but I’m sick and tired of waiting for carriers to push out updates, and custom ROM’s on my S2 just aren’t giving me what I know the Nexus line can provide.

    Give me the NEXUS 🙂

  • GlassBackBadIdea

dave, with a traditionalsmartphone, if you drop it on a hard floor, there is a 50/50 chance it will fall on the display side and break the glass. but with both sides having glass. probability now that you will break the glass is 100%.

  • Benjamin Smith

I’ve given up on trying to buy a Nexus 4 because it’s so rarely available. Now I have my sights on the LG Optimus G.
