Samsung Gear Fit 2 GPS sports band is coming to Canada

Samsung unveiled the Gear Fit 2 and the Gear IconX fitness wearables last week and stated both devices would be available June 10th in select markets.

We now know that the Gear Fit 2 is coming to Canada, according to a press release from Samsung today, but unfortunately we do not know what retailers the device will be sold at, or Canadian pricing information. We reached out to Samsung Canada for clarification and were told the following:

“At this time, we don’t currently have Canadian-specific information to share with you related to the global announcement.”

As for specs, the Gear Fit 2 runs Tizen and is compatible with Android smartphones running 4.4 and above, and will only work with devices with 1.5GB of RAM (and above). In addition, the Gear Fit 2 sports a 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED 216 x 432 display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage, and is IP68 certified (dust and water resistant) with a 200mAh battery.

In addition to tracking fitness, the Gear Fit 2 is also capable of recieving messages, calls, emails, apps and calendar notifications from Android devices. It also comes equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, barometer, and a built-in GPS. The device is reportedly available in black, blue and pink in two sizes, 125 and 170 millimetres.
