Uber launches family payment profiles in the U.S.

Responding to popular demand, Uber has launched Family Profiles in the U.S.

Starting today, Uber users that live in the cities of Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix can share one payment method between themselves and nine other people.

Uber notes that while they’re called Family Profiles, it’s up to users to decide what constitutes family; loved ones, co-workers and friends can all be added to a single Family Profile.

Once a user adds someone to their profile, that person will receive an email, inviting them to join the account. For the user who owns the account, they’ll get a receipt each and every time someone bills a ride to the account.

We’ve contacted Uber to find out when and if Family Profiles are coming to Canada. Stay tuned.

This past month, both the cities of Mississauga and Brampton asked Uber to stop operating in their municipalities while they went about reworking their ride-sharing bylaws.
