Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027.
The release date was revealed during PlayStation’s latest State of Play presentation.
Right after that story trailer, we then got a nearly 10-minute gameplay showcase featuring combat and exploration.
In the footage, we get a look at each of the playable characters’ fighting styles and a better idea of the sheer scope of the game. In the gameplay, the party commandeers the Highwind airship around the world before skydiving out of it and then parachuting to the ground, all while the massive Ruby Weapon monster towers above them.
We also get a glimpse at Wutai, Yuffie’s hometown, as well as the returning town of Gongaga. In the latter, Square Enix confirms that sidequests will unfold a bit differently depending on which characters you use, with Vincent having unique dialogue in this particular sequence. The demo ends with a tease of Queen’s Blood, with Red XIII being at the centre of a questline involving the returning fan-favourite minigame.
All in all, it looks incredibly polished. The fact that the game is launching simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on April 8, 2027 is all the more impressive.
