Apple has announced its latest software update for its computers, dubbed “Golden Gate.”
The new software update, coming to both MacBooks and Mac desktops, adds the all-new Siri AI, Apple Intelligence, Visual Intelligence, and a more refined UI, building on what was introduced last year.
This new operating system adds onto the Liquid Glass update from last year’s controversial macOS Tahoe update. The first of these includes a new adjustable slider for liquid glass in the settings, allowing you to change how much you want.
Alongside this, the icons have been updated to include Liquid Glass, making them more consistent with the new design language.

Speaking of consistency, Apple has also addressed rounded corners across system windows, introducing a fixed corner radius for all apps and system windows, including third-party apps and those that haven’t been updated to the new system.

With Siri AI on Mac, Apple has brought a more conversational AI assistant to its computers, allowing you to ask more open-ended questions, brainstorm ideas, and more in the new Siri app and the Ask Siri feature in Spotlight. Siri also grabs context from your data based on what you’re looking for, i.e. finding a recipe that was sent to you in messages, floor plans for a house that were emailed to you months ago, or even finding photos from your most recent trip. The new Siri is also more customizable and allows you to take action in more apps.
Now, Visual Intelligence has also been added to Siri on Mac, and it allows you to ask Siri AI about anything on your screen, or even take action using apps.
