Xreal, Google show off Project Aura powered by Android XR

The wired glasses launch globally in 2026

At Google I/O 2026, Xreal and Google showed off the fruit of their labour, Project Aura. While these glasses are cool, they are wired XR glasses, so you’ll need to keep them plugged in. These smart glasses launch globally in 2026.

Xreal’s Project Aura, powered by Qualcomm, offers immersive Google Maps navigation, immersive YouTube 180 and 360-degree VR videos, as well as 2D and 3D videos on Project Aura’s 70-degree FOV.

Additionally, Project Aura features an “intuitive” and fun WebXR 3D painting app, as well as AI-powered Android XR games and interactions designed for wearables.
