The versatility and capability of AI is vast, with predictions of jobs being replaced for over a decade at this point. From assembly lines to media production to… speaking with employees?
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is building an AI avatar of himself, according to the Financial Times. The avatar is designed to function like a chatbot to help employees feel more connected to Meta’s CEO and founder. According to sources for The Verge, the avatar is being trained on Zuckerberg’s image and voice, as well as his mannerisms, tone, and public statements.
The development has come a long way since Meta dipped into the AI influencer scene with the Meta AI Studio in July 2024. If this avatar experiment succeeds, Meta may expand to allow online creators to make fully functioning AI avatars of themselves.
During a live demo back at Meta Connect 2024, Zuckerberg and Don Allen Stevenson, an AI-focused content creator who made early influencers in the Meta AI Studio, showcased a demo of a video-based AI avatar that could interact with Instagram followers.
The Financial Times reports that Zuckerberg is directly involved with training the avatar. He has also added five to 10 hours per week to his workload, coding Meta’s other AI projects.
