A Freedom Mobile customer in B.C. says they received a surprisingly high wireless bill claiming they owed the carrier nearly $1 million.

However, Freedom Mobile told MobileSyrup that it was unable to “authenticate the claim” or identify customers in its systems with that much of an outstanding balance.

The customer shared the bill on Reddit, which showed they owed $926,860. Redditor u/Hairy-Rice7451 didn’t say much more about the bill, whether it was resolved or what happened, but noted that they are in Vancouver.

Luckily, u/Hairy-Rice7451 doesn’t seem distressed, instead taking the opportunity to crack jokes about it. Seeing a bill like this can be scary, but it’s definitely a mistake, and they happen even with bigger companies.

Freedom told MobileSyrup that it attempted to contact the customer through Reddit but did not receive a response. The carrier says it remains “committed to resolving any genuine billing concerns and encourage anyone experiencing issues to contact us directly.”

Recently, a Bell customer was in a similar situation after receiving an erroneous bill for $1.6 million. However, his number was deactivated because of the mistake.

Update Oct. 29, 2025, at 10:18 a.m. ET: Updated the story with additional information from Freedom Mobile.
