YouTube is ditching its Trending section, which shows users videos going viral on the platform, after it was introduced 10 years ago.
The company says the Trending page and Trending Now will be removed within the next few weeks, and the company will instead focus on YouTube Charts, which ranks top-performing content.
Alongside charts, YouTube also directed users to use personalized recommendations to see content for specific categories, including music, videos, podcasts, and movie trailers. It plans to add more categories over time, and trending gaming videos will be found on the Gaming Explore page.
Trending videos are usually found on places like TikTok or YouTube Shorts, so it makes sense that the company has seen reduced traffic on the Trending page. Creators who use the Trending page will get directed to the Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio that offers AI-generated content suggestions.
