Possible Android 16 leak reveals new ‘Priority Modes’

Google is working on a new Do Not Disturb mode, as the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1 code spotted. This new mode isn’t called Do Not Disturb any longer, but Priority mode. Mishaal Rahman has learned more about this new feature in the QPR1 Beta 2 code and suggests that this update might come alongside Android 16.

You can access the Priority Mode from the Pixel Quick Setting panel and create custom modes with 40 custom icons to help identify the different Priority Mode profiles.

Priority Modes will start with Event and Sleeping by default, and you can have more than one enabled at once. Event mode may sync up with your Google Calendar to set your device to DND mode, and Sleeping will change the Priority Mode at night.

You’ll also be able to set up contacts and apps that can pass through these different Priority Modes. Priority Modes can also change depending on certain hours of the day, and you can turn on features like Grayscale, keep the screen dark, dim the wallpaper, enable a dark theme, and more.

Rahman indicates that the feature will be pushed to Android 16, which is unfortunate, considering this sounds great, and Android 15 isn’t even out yet. Android 15 is poised to launch in five days, so you’ll have to wait quite a long time before seeing Priority Modes.
