Following a recent delay, it looks like we’ll learn more about Nintendo’s upcoming mobile Animal Crossing title on October 24th (tomorrow) at 11pm ET/ 8pm PT.
Nintendo confirmed, via its official Animal Crossing Twitter account (see below), that it will stream a Direct focused on the series.
It’s unclear if the mobile version of Animal Crossing will take the traditional, build-your-own-home-and-hang-out-in-a-town formula fans of the series have grown to love, or if it will take the franchise in an altogether new direction.
Tune in on 10/24 at 8pmPT for an Animal Crossing Mobile Direct exclusively about the #AnimalCrossing MOBILE game. https://t.co/j5eauvX90u pic.twitter.com/GzKj1jUded

Many expected a Nintendo exec to make an appearance at Apple’s big iPhone X keynote a few weeks ago to reveal the game. Back at Apple’s iPhone 7 event, Shigeru Miyamoto took to the stage to show off Super Mario Run.
While Super Mario Run has been generally well-received and is a competent translation of the series’ classic 2D platforming formula, its initial appeal dies quickly. On the other hand, Nintendo’s second mobile title, Fire Emblem Heroes, is still extremely popular on both iOS and Android.
One thing is for sure though: Animal Crossing’s general design is inherently perfect for microtransactions and in-app purchases. Get ready to start buying stuff from Tom Nook with real-world dollars.
