Rogers increasing wireless connection fee to $20

Rogers is preparing to adjust the cost of its wireless connection fee. According to an internal document, Rogers will be increasing its connection fee from $15 to $20 on February 10th, a charge that applies to consumers and small business clients activating a line or obtaining hardware upgrade.

Rogers says the price adjustment is a result of its regular review of pricing and fees “to make sure we’re delivering the value our customers need.”

“We strive to minimize fee changes as much as possible and we’re always looking for innovative ways to better serve our customers,” the internal email said, going on to highlight the company’s value-added services like NHL GameCentre, Roam Like Home, and its First Rewards loyalty program.

Rogers announced its Q4 results yesterday, noting a 3% increase in wireless revenue to $1.9 billion. The carrier is still leading in terms of subscribers with with 9,450,000 customers (8,073,000 postpaid and 1,377,000 pre-paid), though it lost 58,000 in the three months ending December 31st.
