Samsung Galaxy Discover launched on TELUS Prepaid

    is this bb10 ?

    • Joker!

The discover is the SAME phone as the Samsung Galaxy ACE, that goes for $130 at Telus now:

5MP camera vs 3 for the Discover
      1500mAh vs 1300for the Discover
      10gm lighter

4GB internal memory: if this is true the phone will have at least 512 of RAM which is better than the ACE and was its weak point until developers figured out a way to add SD Card memory as Internal memory with a kernel making it a usable phone.

at $100 I think its the first entry level Android that kills the LG Optimus Galaxy from 2 or 3 yrs ago.
The phone has a great “feel” and it does what it has to do..all for $100 bucks. I would say this phone is a better value than the Telus 9900 at $300!

    • Joker!

-Samsung Discover at $100 is one point for Telus, yeah!

-Samsung Galaxy Rugby LTE at $460:the best Joke of the Season!
and that is -10 points..but who cares, 54% of mobilsyrup readership will be getting the N4.

    • Joker!

      Your options:
This phone for $100 (ITs and obscure model and will have zero support) or

Samsung Galaxy ACE: Free to unlock, tons of ROMS, running ICS and with the new Kernels this phone runs smoothly!!
$150 at Koodo (no unlocking necessary and UL free as I said)
or $100 refurbished, or $130 refurbished at Telus.

HTC ONE V- $150 Ref at Koodo or $200 new at Koodo

I would go with the ACE at $100; it has a physical phone in the middle which makes it more responsive in this level and it looks like an iPhone…at $100!

“In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: “That was an excellent troll you posted.””

They think they’re being funny/clever or trying to get a meme going. Dumb, really.

  • HighClassFrenchCricket

“Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for” hahaha? Hey MobileSyrup, at least make it less obvious that Telus is paying you to promote these ‘deals’.

    • EvanKr

      It’s called sarcasm.

While I personally have no interest in this device, it’s nice to see entry level Androids finally shipping with 4.0, 2.3 was getting extremely outdated.

  • HighClassFrenchCricket

this will be in walmart discount bins for $49.99 with 35 dolla activation credit by the end of the year.

  • 45

Anywho, on topic… $100 for an Android device running ICS, I imagine this will be a good seller for entry level users.

  • OMG BASEDGOD TYBG #taskforce

Surely this thing isn’t being shipped with stock android?

    • Jorden

      It actually is… Vanilla ICS

  • It’s funny how they can put ICS on devices like this but not on some older higher end devices…

  • Or the iPhone 3GS

It is at a much better price than an iPhone 3GS!

  • Quinn

The article didn’t mention this, but it’s for Telus prepaid. Go figure.

    • Carter Loose

I doesn’t matter if its for prepaid or not. The phones are the same they are just branded and priced differently

  • John

    just another POS device…

  • Black Berry Playbook

Is this locked to Telus ?

Can it be used with Wind Mobile ..if unlocked ? ..assuming it supports Wind’s AWS spectrum 🙂

  • Matt

This phone doesn’t appear to be in the database over at gsmarena. Does anyone know what the specific model ID of this device is?

    • Joker!

This phone was released last week at “Tracphone” yes that’s the name of a company in the USA.

The thing that makes or breakes this phone is the RAM.. Less than 512RAM and the phone is not worth $40. 512 or more and is an OK phone.

    soo….. its not bb10 ?

    just wanna clarify

  • stephie

I’m kind of blown away that this thing runs stock ics. That’s a pretty awesome feat for a crappy little 99 dollar phone.

  • F.U.

its a god damn prepaid phone people, why are you comparing to like top notch phones out right now? it was made to be a cheap android phone and for the price and specifications i think i got an excellent deal. my phone can do pretty much anything your phones can do and i pay much less for it and i dont have a contract, now who’s the stupid one?

  • Smatch

Can this be used just as a portable media device like the galaxy player? Was going to get a galaxy player 3.6 for my daughter but this is cheaper.
