A couple cool mockups of RIM’s BBX smartphones (hopefully they look like this)

RIM’s upcoming BBX-powered device, possibly named the Colt, London and hopefully not the “Surfboard”, is expected to be released early 2012. These new devices will be part of their 2012 lineup and according to VP of Industrial Design, Todd Wood, are “charming, whimsical and fun”. Rumoured specs of the first BBX smartphone has it possibly thinner than the iPhone, a 1.5GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

There has been a few mock ups, plus a possible glimpse of the London. However, it’s always good to see what BlackBerry enthusiasts dream up. This time, CrackBerry forum member “Pootermobile” created a couple compelling designs of what he hopes RIM’s first BBX device may look like. Gotta say, if RIM came to market with these bad boys 2012 will be a promising year for them. There are two images, the FS-1 and the Sabre, both have a huge display and overall generally looks like the HTC Desire HD – the FS-1 has the familiar BlackBerry buttons, plus the red LED indicator.

Looking good, hopefully RIM takes notice. Would you buy?
