Amazon Prime Video now available on Apple TV in Canada

During Apple’s WWDC 2017 conference, CEO Tim Cook promised the Amazon Prime Video app for Apple TV would arrive sometime “later this year.” Rumours initially pointed to a summer release, which came and went without the app making its way to the App Store. Today, however, Amazon has finally fulfilled that promise.

Those with a third-generation Apple TV can download the Amazon Prime Video app from the tvOS App Store. While the release notes state availability is limited to “U.S., UK, Germany, Austria, and Japan,” we are hearing that Canadians can also access the streaming service by searching for ‘Amazon’.

Amazon Prime members can watch movies and TV shows such as Man in the High Castle, The Grand Tour, Mr. Robot, Goliath and Mozart in the Jungle.

Update: Confirmed. Apple Canada has sent us a note, stating, “Apple TV 4K and previous generations of Apple TV… Prime Video is integrated into the Apple TV app where available, so members can easily find and discover their favourite Amazon shows and movies on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and also find Amazon content using the Siri Remote and universal search on Apple TV. With the addition of Prime Video, Siri can now search 1.3 million TV episodes and movies on Apple TV.”
