This week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Jessica Vomiero, Patrick O’Rourke and Ian Hardy discuss Bell’s acquisition of MTS and also go through a rundown of the highlights from the CRTC’s recent Wireless Code review.

Bell recently finally received regulatory approval to finalize its acquisition of Manitoba’s regional wireless carrier, MTS. The new network, Bell MTS, will be launching on March 17th, 2017.

In other CRTC news, the online discussion portion of the review of The Wireless Code has been extended until February 20th. Among other things, last week’s review brought unlocking fees and disability services to the forefront of conversation surrounding Canada’s telecommunications sector. The SyrupCast team remains hopeful that these discussions will continue and lead to progress and changes in Canada’s wireless code.
