Canadian Smartphone Awards: iPhone 14 Pro wins Toronto’s most popular phone

We use iPhones in the 6ix, apparently

Thanks to everyone who filled out our “Hey Toronto folks, what smartphone do you use?” survey. We had more than 2,200 people submit responses. We also had a Canadian survey, but this survey had varying results.

For instance, we saw more BlackBerry users in this survey than when we surveyed the whole country, although it’s still sad that only three people in the city had these devices.

Toronto seems to be the city of iPhones, with nearly 800 folks saying they had an iPhone. 95 of the people who answered the survey said they had either a 17 or 17 Pro Max. About 129 users said they had an iPhone 16 or 16 Pro, and 139 had either the iPhone 15 or 15 Pro. However, the iPhone 14 has more than 200 users, with 184 people saying they specifically own the iPhone 14 Pro. And thus having the most users and winning our survey.

One person said they owned an iPhone 3G, which would be insane considering it’d be over 15 years old.

Unsurprisingly, if you’re paying attention to the phones around you on the TTC, Google’s Pixel lineup has more than 550 people in our survey. Most people on this list owned a Pixel 8, which happened to be the most common around the whole country.

And of course, Samsung had 530 people in our survey, with varying results from around 70-130 people for each of the S23, S24, and S25 series.

It was cool to see more than 100 with folding phones. OnePlus nearly had 100 people, five people with Nothing Phones, and one person even said they had an Essential Phone.

For this survey, we worked together with BlogTO. 2,260 people entered this survey, though 55 people didn’t answer. We also had some trolls with some inappropriate answers and some funny ones like “You gooogirl,” “The Zack Morris one from Saved by the Bell” (I was a huge Saved by the Bell fan growing up.
