The Pad 3 costs $999 in Canada

The OnePlus Pad 3 is now available in Canada for $999.99, $250 more expensive than its predecessor in the North.

OnePlus told us that the tablet is more expensive this year because it’s supposed to compete directly with other flagship tablets on the market, like the Tab S10 Ultra; however, in Canada, that tablet has a $1,599 price tag, so it’s clear OnePlus is severely trying to undercut Samsung. This tablet is more in line with the competition of the Tab S10, which costs $1,349. Still, OnePlus is undercutting Samsung in this category. Samsung has more variety, as the South Korean tech giant also has the Tab S10 FE devices, which are more affordable than the Pad 3, but the Pad 3 has far better specs.

This includes the Snapdragon 8 Elite, up to 512GB of storage, and a large 12,140mAh battery. The device also sports a 13.2-inch LCD display with a 7:5 aspect ratio and 12-bit colour and pixel density of 315ppi. Even though the Pad 3 lacks an OLED panel, I’ve enjoyed watching Netflix and YouTube before, on this LCD screen.

I liked the device’s small display size compared to the Tab S10 Ultra; however, the Tab S10 Ultra is slightly thinner, which is nice. I wish the OnePlus Pad 3 were as thin as the S10 Ultra; however, the difference is minute, and I probably wouldn’t have noticed the half-millimetre difference if I didn’t have the Tab S10 Ultra right beside me.

The best thing about the OnePlus Pad 3 is that massive battery. OnePlus says the Pad 3 can survive 70 days of standby time, which is impressive. I haven’t had the device for 70 days yet, but I would love to test this to see if it’s correct. Because a tablet isn’t a device I use every day, it was hard to say precisely how long the battery lasted me, but in the hour it took me to write this on the device, it only went down by one per cent. It also has an 80W supercharger in the box, which is fantastic.

The Pad 3’s $249.99 smart keyboard is pretty cool, you can connect it with POGO or Bluetooth. It also has NFC, so you can tap your phone against the keyboard if you want to transfer files quickly.

The Pad 3 costs $999.99 in Canada, and you can get it from OnePlus’ site directly or from Best Buy Canada.
