As part of the streaming platform’s $500 million commitment to create Canadian productions, Netflix has announced a new original sci-fi series from Toronto-based Halfire Entertainment called Another Life.
Production for the TV show is set to start this summer in Vancouver. The 10 episode series stars Katee Sackhoff who is most well-known for her role on Battlestar Galactica as lieutenant Kara ‘Starbuck.’
While little is known about Another Life so far, Netflix says the show stars astronaut Niko Breckenridge — played by Sackhoff — who is leading a crew on a mission to explore the origin of an alien artifact.
“As she and her young crew investigate, they face unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission,” reads a press release from Netflix, sent to MobileSyrup.
Halflife Entertainment is also behind critically acclaimed Netflix-CBC co-production Alias Grace. Aaron Martin, Another Life’s creator and showrunner is also behind Degrassi: The Next Generation and Saving Hope.
Another Life is set to consist of 10 hour-long episodes.
