Huawei has unveiled the Honor 8, the company’s latest Android device. The phone features a metal unibody design with a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display. Unfortunately, just as we suspected, like previous Honor flagship models, the 8 is not officially coming to Canada.
“The Honor Brand isn’t one we are launching in Canada. It will be sold in the US via a number of online channels, along with a few select retail outlets, consistent with the sales strategy we’ve used in other markets where we’ve launched Honor. In Canada, we are continuing to work with major carriers, and will focus on promoting our devices under the ‘Huawei’ brand,” said Scott Bradley, vice-president of corporate and government affairs at Huawei Canada, in a statement to MobileSyrup.
However, those interested in scoring the Honor 8 can pre-order via online retailer NewEgg Canada for $519.99 plus $9.99 shipping. The model available is the 32GB in Midnight Black with the expected release date for September 11th, while the Pearl White is tipped to arrive August 27th. NewEgg is also offering a $50 promo gift card with the purchase.
Additional specs of the unlocked, LTE-enabled Honor 8 include a dual f/2.2 12 megapixel camera rear shooter, 8 megapixel front-facing camera, Kirin 950 Octa-Core processor (this is the first time the processor is coming to the U.S.), 4GB of RAM, fingerprint sensor, and Android Marshmallow 6.0.
