Live Labs, CIBC’s innovation lab at the MaRs Discovery District, is cooking up some interesting projects these days. Among these is the just released CIBC Hello Home, an app that allows Canadians to apply for a mortgage through their smartphones.
“CIBC is at the forefront of developing and implementing mobile-driven solutions that address the clear shift in how Canadians access banking services,” said Aayaz Pira, vice-president of digital channels at CIBC in a statement to MobileSyrup.
“Through our work with the country’s top emerging tech talent at CIBC Live Labs we will continue to develop products and services that meet clients’ growing digital expectations.”
CIBC Hello Home is a free download and includes in-app messaging feature, allowing users to talk to a mortgage specialist while they work through their application. In addition, up to clients may apply for a mortgage at the same time, and some households may have the chance to save money through customized in-app mortgage rates. Hello Home also allows users to securely upload important documentation related to their mortgage through the app.
To promote the service, CIBC and Scott McGillivray, host of HGTV’s Income Property, are teaming up to showcase the developments currently in progress at Live Labs, and to offer a first glimpse at Hello Home. The segment will stream on Facebook Live on May 31 at 7 p.m.
“With CIBC Hello Home and our expanded CIBC Mobile Banking App we are introducing the next generation of smartphone apps, adding features that go beyond basic customer service to create a mobile banking experience that delivers new levels of simplicity and convenience for our clients,” said Pira in a statement.
