Pebble has teamed with PayPal to create a smartwatch app that allows users to make in-store purchases.
Over the past couple of years, PayPal has curated a list of quick service cafes, shops and restaurants that allow payment through its mobile app on Android or iOS. Users need to log in to their PayPal account through the Pebble smartphone app, which then hooks into the device’s GPS capabilities to locate nearby places to shop.
Users can “check in” to pay, similar to the way the smartphone app works. The watch can also generate a QR code for different kinds of payments.
