Google’s Material Design concept has slowly been creeping its way across the company’s applications and it looks like the News & Weather application is the next to receive the treatment. Google has released a brand new version of its News & Weather app, finally bringing the software to version 2.0.
Gone are the black news and weather widgets Nexus users have grown used to. Instead, these have been replaced by sleeker, less obtrusive white versions with a sort of transparent halo effect surrounding each widget. The homescreen widget is now resizable, and the weather widget offers a 5-day forecast. The news widget now offers the ability to scroll through news stories without actually clicking to open the app.
You can also personalize the news by signing in with your Google account, change editions or news to reflect a certain language or country, and view weather and news for multiple locations.
