It’s one of the marquee apps for BlackBerry’s new mobile platform, and certainly a must-have for all cross-platform messaging addicts.
WhatsApp is now available, in native form, on BlackBerry 10. According to the press release, “In building a native application for the BlackBerry 10 platform, WhatsApp has been able to provide a fantastic user experience that leverages the true multi-tasking capabilities of BlackBerry 10. WhatsApp Messenger for BlackBerry 10 provides a high quality messaging experience that utilizes real-time push notifications to alert you when you receive messages – even when the screen is locked.”
Part of that is integration with the Hub and Flow, allowing users to check messages as part of their normal workflow. When first logging in to WhatsApp, your contacts will be uploaded in encrypted form to the company’s servers, which will then match up your local people will those on the app.
We’ll give it a run-through later today but, in the meantime, if you’re rocking a BlackBerry Z10 let us know how you like it.
Download WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10. It is also available for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Symbian and S40.
