Another day… another cellphone tower being put up and another group of concerned citizens about possible radiation and the decrease it could have on their property. It was only yesterday that Rogers was having a challenge on the east coast. Let’s move all the way over to the west coast to beautiful Port Edward, BC.
Telus has started to put a new tower up and not even the mayor knew about it! Mayor Dave MacDonald “Personally I think Telus should have advised us of what they are doing so we could tell the people what is happening…A good corporate citizen would let you know what they are doing in the community”. Councillor Knut Bjorndal stepped in to defend the Mayor and said “With all of the concerns that have been coming up about telecommunications and radiation, it’s time Telus tells us what they’re doing…It is a little bit arrogant on their part not to say what they are doing,”
Telus rep Shawn Hill said “We have had that tower in place for 14 years and are now in the process of putting a new wireless network across our operational area. We’re putting up the new HSPS network so that we can offer the next generation of cell service.”
(I think the quote was supposed to be HSDPA Network, not HSPS)
