Walmart to slash BlackBerry PlayBook pricing, now starting at $198 for 16GB

$299 for the RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook was a good deal, but even better is below the $200 mark. Walmart, notorious for rolling prices back, has decided to put the PlayBook on sale this week at a ridiculously low price. How does $198 for the 16GB version sound? There must be lots of stock on hand as they’ll also be placing the 32GB and 64GB models on sale, $298 and $398 respectively. According to this flyer the sale starts on November 16th-22nd for those located in Quebec, then across Canada on the 18th until the 24th.

  1. YMMV since this has been known on red flag deals for a little while and people seem to be buying the stock now and using price protection when the sale goes live.

    • Does Walmart even do price protection? I was pretty sure they didn’t.

  8. I love poking fun of this product, but at $198, this could be interesting.

    • I don’t care how do I get an ioiormatfnn or THE ioiormatfnn. I just care that I get it (information) using this this formula: the best quality of device + less money as possible + i don’t care what will you think about me if i do not own Apple product. And, don’t forget that Apple stole (and still steals) from other companies with not that good marketing. You think that you are classy and more creative just because you watch the same ioiormatfnn on Apple product while I don’t. Keep thinking.

  10. You have 30 days price protection, so it will be $198 until the Dec 24. Wait for the Playbook @ $99 it is GOING TO HAPPEN!

  14. Why would any Canadian get a Kindle Fire? All the amazon services are US only.

  15. How can all these people be picking up the Kindle Fire instead? I thought that they weren’t being sold in Canada. I would buy the Fire in an instant if I could A. buy it, and B. get content for it through Amazon.

Back to the playbook…that price is amazing! I checked just now and it’s currently selling in the fliers for $498

    • How this is possible? 10% on diffrence… means 199 at FS $198 at walmart. dirrence is only $1/- 10% of 1 is only 10cents!!!. even the diffrence is $50 diffrence is only 5 dollar saving.

  22. When walmart price matches do they reduce the price by an extra 10% of the difference? I am thinking of getting it at the futureshop instead because they do the price match + 10% but it’s a long drive…

  24. Not sure about everywhere else but in London Ontario these things are sold before they even hit the shelves. They are sold out as soon as a store gets them in. I’m sure RIM is losing a lot of money on this deal but they must be selling a ton of them.
