Waze’s new Planned Drives feature takes the uncertainty out of planning future trips

Waze 4.0

Waze has a new feature for anyone planning to go on a road trip anytime soon.

Dubbed Planned Drives, users of the popular navigation app can get now Waze to help them avoid being late for an important appointment or occasion. Using a new section of the app, users can add information pertaining to a future trip they plan to make — including the destination, as well as date and time they intend to leave on — and Waze will then suggest the best time to hit the road.

The app will also send the user a reminder when it’s time to head out. Should road and traffic conditions have a potential affect on the upcoming drive, Waze will note that in the reminder and suggest an earlier departure time. It’s also possible to add reoccurring trips, such as a daily morning commute, to help make sure you’re always on time.

“This takes into account expected traffic conditions based on smart algorithms, aggregated traffic history and predictive analysis,”says the company in the blog post that accompanies the announcement.

As it did with its major 4.0 update, which made its way to Android just last week, Waze is first launching planned drives on iOS. The Google-owned company says the feature will make its way to Android “soon”.
