Huawei’s Pura X View is a wide phone, but not a wide folding phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the rumoured iPhone Ultra; it’s just a cute, wider phone.
While this phone will likely never come to Canada, we’re hoping that this device’s pretty cool feature makes its way to other wide phones that are available here. For example, the Huawei phone aligns the keyboard to the left or right based on which hand is holding the smartphone.
Moreover, the accept/reject buttons can also switch to the left or right edges based on which hand you’re using. Even some of the controls for the music player will change depending on which hand the phone is held in.
A reviewer, Vincent Zhong, posted these details in his review of the Pura X View; however, the video didn’t explain how the handset is capable of detecting which hand is holding it.
I can see this being a pretty useful feature when you’re using the Cover Screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or the upcoming iPhone Ultra. Or really any smartphone that’s big enough that reaching across the display is difficult with one hand.
