Rockstar to reveal ‘extended look’ at GTA VI on Netflix later this month

Rockstar Games will unveil an “extended look” at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27.

Notably, the presentation will premiere on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET before launching later that day at 9 p.m. ET on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website. This will be our first major look at GTA VI ahead of its November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for $109.99 in Canada.

It’s perhaps an unexpected move to have what’s presumably the open-world crime game’s long-awaited gameplay reveal be exclusive to Netflix at first, but it speaks to the streamer’s continued push for live entertainment programming after hosting events like comedy specials and wrestling matches.

Either way, this reveal has been a long time coming. GTA VI was first unveiled in a short trailer in December 2023 following a major hack of Rockstar, with a second trailer coming in May 2025. Both trailers only offered a taste at the story, which follows the romantic criminal duo of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in the Florida-inspired Leonida, as well as the graphical fidelity. The game has since been delayed multiple times.

But of course, GTA VI could come out anytime and still do gangbusters. To that point, 2013’s GTA V was, at the time, the fastest entertainment product to reach US$1 billion (in just three days), and GTA VI is expected to be even bigger. Because of that, retailers are expecting console shortages, so you might want to get one sooner rather than later if you don’t already have, especially as prices continue to increase amid the global component crisis.
