Vancouver-based Sunset Visitor, the team behind 2024’s award-winning 1000xResist, has unveiled its latest game, Prove You’re Human.
It’s a psychological horror game in which you play as the digital copy of a person who was paid to test a corporate product which split him into two.
In a trailer shown during the Triple-i Initiative 2026 showcase, we can see the player having to explore seemingly normal outdoor landscapes while solving CAPTCHA puzzles to progress. All the while, you’ll learn more about the mysterious “Mesa” and the employees at the company. Sunset Visitor teases that the game will conclude by challenging you to decide whether to re-merge your two selves or discard your work self.
A release date was not confirmed, but it’s set to come to PC. You can wishlist the game on Steam. Notably, Toronto-based Black Tabby Games, the team behind acclaimed narrative games Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow, is publishing Prove You’re Human.
It’s also worth noting for the uninitiated that Sunset Visitor has a fascinating story. The team was founded by a small group of performance artists after their industry was shut down amid the pandemic. That background gave 1000xResist an impeccable sense of theatricality in how everything was blocked, while influences from the likes of Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love) and Neon Genesis Evangelion provided a striking art direction.
That pivot to games ended up paying off, with 1000xResist garnering rave reviews for its high-concept sci-fi themes centred around a deeply personal immigrant narrative. It even won a Peabody Award.
If you haven’t, I definitely recommend checking out 1000xResist and wishlist Prove You’re Human.
