When an underground Berlin train is taken hostage, corporate business negotiator Sam must once again step up to broker a peaceful resolution.

Hijack was created by George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal) and stars Idris Elba (Luther), Christine Adams (Black Lightning), Max Beesley (Jamestown), and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife).

Crave

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, this series follows the adventures of two unlikely heroes.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was created by Ira Parker (Better Things) and Martin and stars Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters), Dexter Sol Ansell (Emmerdale), Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) and Bertie Carvel (The Crown).

Wick Is Pain

Filmed over a decade, this documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the John Wick series, from the struggles of directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch to get the first film funded to the intricate fight choreography.

Wick Is Pain was directed by Jeffrey Doe (Salinger) and features the likes of Stahelski, Leitch, Toronto’s own Keanu Reeves (John Wick himself) and more.

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials [Netflix Original]

A witty young aristocrat investigates a murder at a lavish country house party.

Based on Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel The Seven Dials MysterySeven Dials was adapted by Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) and stars Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex), Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) and Nyasha Hatendi (Alex Rider).

The Rip [Netflix Original]

Netflix Canada premiere date: Friday, January 16
Genre: Action thriller
Runtime: 2 hours, 13 minutes

Loyalties are questioned when a group of Miami police officers discovers millions in cash in a rundown stash house.

The Rip was written and directed by Joe Carnahan (The Grey) and stars Matt Damon (The Martian), Ben Affleck (Argo), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another), Sasha Calle (The Flash) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights).

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy [Paramount+ Original]

The first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century train to become officers.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy was created by Gaia Violo (In From the Cold) and stars Holly Hunter (The Piano), Sandro Rosta (Snitches Get Stitches), Karim Diané (One of Us is Lying), Kerrice Brooks (My Old Ass), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) and Robert Picardo reprising his Star Trek: Voyager role of The Doctor. It’s also worth noting that Regina’s Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) has a recurring role and that Starfleet Academy, like most of the other modern Star Trek shows, was filmed in Toronto and other parts of Ontario.

Montreal’s Patrick Huard (Bon Cop Bad Cop) once again hosts this series about Quebecois comedians competing to see who can resist laughing while making each other chuckle. This season features Mehdi Bousaidan, Liliane Blanco-Binette, Mégan Brouillard, Eve Côté, Guy Jodoin, Anthony Kavanagh, Patrice L’Ecuyer, Claude Legault, Phil Roy and Guylaine Tremblay.
