Samsung’s S26 Ultra has new charging time, and more questions

Leaks report the device can charge up to 70-75 per cent in half an hour.

With the next generation of Samsung’s flagship devices approaching, one of the newest rumours (outside of an upgraded NFC placement) surrounding the device is the S26 Ultra’s upgraded fast charging. However, there is speculation that it may not be as big of a boost as was initially thought.

As Android Police points out, Samsung’s highly-regarded flagship devices have fallen behind in terms of charging speed in recent years. OnePlus’ recent devices have been able to hit 80-100W of charge, while Samsung has been only able to recharge at a max of 45W, with a lot of their models still at 25W.

This would be a significant upgrade in terms of wattage. However, Weibo user IceUniverse points out through testing that it may not make a huge difference. Internal tests show the S26 Ultra’s 60W charging rate can refill the device from empty to approximately 75 to 80 per cent in roughly half an hour, which, although promising, is similar to what the S25 Ultra was able to hit.

One point to note, however, is that IceUniverse did mention the data was fairly conservative, and that the actual device may be capable of hitting 90 per cent in half an hour. Currently, it is unclear whether this was confirmed in actual tests or if this was an estimated calculation.

Currently, Samsung no longer provides charging estimations because it no longer includes a charger with the phone, which it uses as the standard for charging. However, Android Police mentions that 70-75 per cent in about half an hour is about expected.

With the range of 70-90 per cent in half an hour being the expected amount, the 60W charging will be an upgrade in terms of Samsung devices, but it may not be an industry-shaking change.
