All iPhone 16 models sold in Canada feature SIM Card tray

If you're worried about whether the iPhone 16 will support SIM cards, fear not

Apple has confirmed that all iPhone 16 models sold in Canada will continue to support a SIM card tray. This includes the newly announced iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max devices.

Keeping in line with previous years, the soon-to-be released iPhone 16 series devices sold in Canada will support physical SIM cards. That being said, any aforementioned devices sold in the U.S. won’t include a SIM card tray.

This trend first began on the heels of the iPhone 14 series’ release in 2022. Apple removed the SIM card tray slot for all devices sold in the U.S., prioritizing the use of eSIMs. Much like physical SIM cards, eSIMs are activated using a cellular plan. However, they don’t require the use of a physical nano SIM card. This trend continued into last year when the iPhone 15 series also dropped the use of a SIM card tray in the U.S.

In Canada, there are a number of carriers that do support eSIMs. This includes Bell, Rogers, Koodo, Lucky Mobile, SaskTel, Telus, and Virgin Plus.

On top of Canada, other global markets where iPhone 16 offers physical SIM card support includes Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and the U.K.
