Instagram’s ban on images of self-harm has expanded to include fictional illustrations of suicide and self-harm.
The ban now includes drawings, memes and cartoons that depict suicide or self-harm, according to a recent blog post from the platform.
“We will also remove other imagery that may not show self-harm or suicide, but does include associated materials or methods,” wrote Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, in the blog post.
The social media giant said it has removed the visibility of more than 834,000 pieces of content since the ban was introduced earlier this year.
