In the spirit of the CRTC’s updated Wireless Code — which is now in effect, bringing about the end of unlocking fees in Canada — Freedom Mobile has added a number of enhancements to its My Account management feature.
Starting today, Freedom Mobile customers will find that My Account (available on iOS and Android, as well as online) makes it easier for account holders to customize how much access each user has to their account.
Another improvement is that account holders will now get notifications whenever other users on the same account activate data roaming.
Lastly, customers can now add a new line right from the carrier’s website.
“We made some of these updates in support of the recent changes to the Wireless Code of Conduct, which is designed to protect customers by establishing standards for wireless providers,” said a Freedom Mobile spokesperson over email, adding: “We also took this opportunity to refresh some of our features.”
Besides ending locking fees, the updated Wireless Code that goes into effect today brings with it a number of other changes, including additional provisions to protect those with accessibility needs.
