Montreal-developed Transit App is coming to Android Wear

Transit App

Transit App is one of the best transportation apps available on iOS, Android and Apple Watch. In fact, the Montreal-developed app was one of the first third-party applications to launch on Apple’s wearable earlier this year, and prominently featured during the its keynote presentation.

And now, after a lengthy but hopefully worthwhile waiting period, Transit App is finally coming to Android Wear devices.

“It was always in our plans to release an Android Wear app so we’re excited to finally get it out there. We’re confident wearables are the next big frontier – especially for our use case – and will improve the transit experience for our Android users,” said Jake Sion, Transit App’s director of strategy and development.

According to a recent post on Transit App’s official development blog, the Android Wear version of the app was developed by just two members of the development studios’ team.

The new Android Wear iteration reportedly works very similar to the Apple Watch version of Transit App, giving users instant access to upcoming public transportation departure times directly on the user’s wrist.

The Wear app’s user interface, similar to the Android version of Transit App, also looks nearly identical to its Apple Watch counterpart, which is a good thing since Transit App is one of the more intuitive Apple Watch apps out there right now (watchOS 2.0 also helped speed up Glance load times significantly).

Transit App also recently added stop notifications to its platform.
