The stream of Nexus leaks continues this week with a newly uploaded Google document revealing additional information about Google’s upcoming devices.
While most of what’s in this document is the type of marketing material aimed at retail representatives, there are couple of interesting tidbits.
For starters, the document corroborates earlier specification leaks that made their way online last week. It says the Nexus 6P will feature a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 display, Snapdragon 810 SoC, a massive 3450 mAh battery, dual front-facing speakers and a USB Type-C.
The weight of the Nexus 6P is something we haven’t heard about before, but according to one of the slides, it will weigh 178 grams.
For the sake of comparison, the Nexus 6 weighs in at 184 grams. The fact that the 6P is supposed to be lighter than its predecessor is all the more impressive when you consider the fact that it will include a larger battery – 3,450 mAh vs 3,220 mAh in the Nexus 6 – as well as an all metal unibody design. On an interesting side note, the Nexus 5X Amazon India posting we saw surface earlier in the week stated that the 6P’s smaller sibling will weigh 175 grams.
The slide devoted to the 6P’s camera says it “allows in more light”. Presumably, this means the 6P will feature a camera lens that is able to go down to a lower F-stop than its predecessor. It also mentions a “faster Google camera app.”
The last bit of interesting info pertains to colour options. According to one of the slides, the Gold Nexus 6P won’t be available in Canada at launch; instead, it’s coming to Japan first, and then to other regions at a later date. It also states the official names of the three other colours — “Aluminum,” “Graphite,” and “Frost.”
Google is hosting an event in San Francisco on Septemebr 29, where the company is expected to announce both the Nexus 6P and 5X, as well as the recently leaked Chromecast refresh.
