Inbox, Google’s exploration into the future of email, no longer requires an invite to access. Starting now, anyone that’s interested in the app can download it on either an Android or iOS device.
That’s not all, however, the Gmail team is marking the milestone by adding a couple of new features to the email client.
The most notable for anyone that has already had the chance to use the app will be the new ways in which it’s possible to interact with individual emails. There’s now an undo send option, which allows a user to take back and email right after they’ve sent it. Anyone that has this feature enabled on Gmail’s web client will know that it’s a godsend. It’s now also possible to make deleting an email the default swiping action, and, at long last, custom signature have made their way to Inbox.
The scope of the Bundles feature has also been expanded with a new preset grouping. Previous version of Inbox grouped together emails that dealt with purchases and promotions. Now, the app will do the same with any emails that relate to a trip. Additionally, when looking at emails in the travel bundle, there will be a card with important information pertaining to the trip such as airplane flight times and hotel reservation numbers. As in the past, it’s still possible to create custom bundles.
Lastly, several improvements to how Inbox handles reminders have been added to this release.
Grab Inbox from the Google Play store or iTunes App Store, and see for yourself if it’s worth the hype.
