Unannounced Porsche Design P’9983 unearthed in OS 10.3.0.700

In 2012, BlackBerry and Porsche Design teamed up for the uber-expensive P’9981, a luxury smartphone based on the Bold 9900. This was followed-up last year with the BlackBerry 10-powered Porsche Design P’9982, which claimed a $2500 price tag. Good news for those who are interested in a sequel, as they are partnering up once again, with a few images being unearthed from the developer OS 10.3.0.700.

According to CrackBerry, BlackBerry Khan is the codename of the P’9983 (the P’9982 was known as King) and the overall design is similar to the earlier versions. One major difference could be the inclusion of dual cameras on the back, or it just possibly be one camera with LED flash. The design looks to follow the other Porsche Design BlackBerry devices with a leather backing and removable battery.

There is no word on if or when the P’9983 will be available, but if history repeats itself we should be looking at a November release. John Chen, BlackBerry’s CEO, hinted that he would be releasing a couple of high-end smartphones this year — perhaps the P’9983 is one of them. For now, we’ll just wait until the Passport and Classic make their way to Canadian stores.
