Perhaps there was a deeper reason for Apple and Burberry to make headlines other than the iPhone 5s capturing content for its Spring/Summer fashion show a few weeks ago. In a press release early this morning, Apple announced that they’ve hired Angela Ahrendts as its Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores.
Ahrendts, currently CEO of Burberry, will join Apple in the Spring and will report to CEO Tim Cook. She will have complete control and “direction, expansion and operation of both Apple retail and online stores.”
Ahrendts stated, “I am profoundly honored to join Apple in this newly created position next year, and very much look forward to working with the global teams to further enrich the consumer experience on and offline. I have always admired the innovation and impact Apple products and services have on people’s lives and hope in some small way I can help contribute to the company’s continued success and leadership in changing the world.”
Apple currently has 29 Apple Store retail stores across Canada.
