Elevation Partners Roger McNamee sat down with Sarah Lacy of Tech Ticker on Yahoo! to discuss the Palm Pre. He said the new design stemmed a couple years ago when BlackBerry first introduced the Pearl.
He’s truly passionate about the new OS and the Pre is what Executive Chairman of Palm Jon Rubinstein calls “The Next Big Thing”. He says that most people’s life does not revolve around iTunes, or corporate e-mail. The Pre is just the first of many devices coming out with the new OS.
In addition, Robert McNamee shared some great insight into more capabilities of Palm’s webOS working with the calendar, GPS and clock all together: “So when you wake up in the morning, it has taken your calendar…and downloaded the maps for your whole day. It not only knows where you are, it knows where you’re supposed to be and when. So when it realizes you’re going to be late, it says ‘Hey, not only are you going to be late, but I can take care of it for you. I’ll send an email to your assistant or to the people in the meeting, which would you prefer?’ And oh, by the way, here’s the map.”
