Samsung has announced the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Watch 9, the company’s newest pair of smartwatches. Unfortunately, if you’re a fan of the ‘Classic,’ you’re out of luck, but otherwise these flagship watches are pretty impressive.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is now 10ATM rated, allowing users to dive up to 100m with the watch. It also has a Diving Standard Certification, making it a perfect watch for diving, with Health Coach training helping you with your diving abilities. In the past, I’ve wanted to learn how to properly dive, as I used to be a very strong swimmer, and this would have been perfect for me.
Plus, the smartwatch has Ocean Swimming, which is great for people like me. Every year, I go to Hawaii and having to remember to take off my watch before a late-night ocean swim is a struggle. I tend to just not wear my smartwatch at night, and with the five/six hour time difference, wearing a watch is clutch.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 also has a MIL-STD rating, which should help with bumps and dings — something that I definitely need. Sometimes at the end of my review period of smartwatches, I’ll see scratches around the body of the device, and it’s definitely user error, but a rugged smartwatch seems made for people like me.
But the Watch Ultra 2 is more for the sporty, hikers, and some people may prefer the Watch 9 instead. This device comes in two sizes: 40mm and 44mm. While it lacks the 10ATM rating, it still has a 5ATM rating, letting you go as deep as 50m. It’s also MIL-STD graded for more protection.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 starts at $949.99, and the Watch 9 starts at $519.99.
