iOS 27 beta has a bunch of references to the iPhone Fold

Apple unveiled iOS 27 at its latest WWDC event this week, showcasing all kinds of new features that will drop with the new version of its OS.

However, people who have gotten their hands on the iOS 27 developer beta have found within it some information about another Apple release: the long-rumoured foldable iPhone. As spotted by product designer Sam Henri Gold, the beta includes references to terms like “foldState” and “angleDegrees” and multiple screens, which, of course, would apply to a foldable instead of a single-screen smartphone.

9to5Mac confirmed that these references weren’t present in iOS 26. Additionally, Apple’s WWDC State of the Union developer presentation noted that support for resizing iPhone apps both on iPad and within macOS mirroring, another indicator of adapting to a new form factor.

All of this adds more fuel to the fire that Apple is planning to launch the long-rumoured iPhone Fold, and possibly soon, at that. So far, the company hasn’t officially addressed its existence, although leaks indicate that it will debut this September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro during its big annual iPhone event. The foldable is expected to feature a 7.8-inch inner screen with a 5.5-inch cover screen, Touch ID, two rear-facing cameras and more.
