Amazon dumps game purchases, third-party stores on Luna

Remember when game streaming was the future?

Amazon has pretty much stripped its cloud gaming service Luna to the core.

Coming from a post on Bluesky by a user named Wario64 (I wish I was kidding), Amazon said in a customer service post that the platform will eliminate game stores, individual game purchases, and third-party subscriptions.

With that in mind, a-la-carte game purchases, Bring Your Own Library, subscription services like Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games, and third-party game stores like EA, Ubisoft, and GOG will all be removed from Luna.

“Starting April 10, 2026, Amazon Luna will no longer offer game stores, individual game purchases, or third-party subscriptions,” according to the Amazon Luna Team. “You’ll still be able to play any games you’ve already purchased and access your third-party subscription benefits (as long as that subscription remains active) until June 10, 2026.”

Amazon also notes that after June 10, those games will no longer be available.

Amazon notes that the platform is “doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles, delivered in ways that make great games more accessible, as well as new and unique gaming experiences like GameNight.” GameNight is a series of party games that can be played with your TV and phone.

The good news, though, is that you can continue to access the games that you have purchased through these third-party stores directly through each platform account that you linked (EA App, GOG Galaxy, Ubisoft Connect).

But for now, it seems Amazon is slowly winding down the Luna service, with the removal of game purchases and third-party stores being the first step. Now, Amazon could have a totally different idea for Luna’s future than I (or a lot of the general public) do, but this reminds me of Stadia’s end, which isn’t good news.
